Kim Bogart 

My work explores the relationship between the conscious and unconscious mind through the juxtaposition of carefully calculated repetitive markings and random serendipitous additions. The merging of the two visual elements comes to signify the ongoing conversation between these states of mind and the conversation’s impact on identity. 

 

I am interested in dualities, both conceptual and visual. I also am inspired by the intricate patterns that occur in nature, and like to reimagine them in unlikely compositions or combinations. My work has evolved to include a variety of materials in addition to paint in order to create a textured surface with depth. This encourages the viewer to examine each piece closely, challenging them to identify transformed materials in hopes of surprising them and inspiring them in a novel way.
